Equipping Your First Aid Kit

Here is a list of essential items you must include in your medical tactical gear:

1. Gloves

You must have at least 2 pairs of nitrile gloves in your medical kit. It is better to use nitrile over latex gloves as they don’t cause allergy and are resistant to puncture and chemicals. 

2. Bandage

A bandage or tourniquets should find a place in your medical kit in case you face an injury and require stopping of excessive blood flow. The bandages should be cheap, lightweight and easy to apply.

3. Dressing

Canadian tactical gear or tactical gear used in any other country must include trauma dressings, which not only covers the wound, but also applies pressure on it to absorb blood completely.

4. Gauze Rolls

Gauze is a type of sterile bandage type dressing and must be a part of police gear medical kit.

5. Miscellaneous Items 

EMT sheets, elastic wraps, antiseptic solution, safety pins, alcohol gels, cold compresses etc. should also be part of the medical kit.
