Quick Tips on Using a Tactical Flashlight

In low or no light conditions, a tactical flashlight is the most important accessory with a Law Enforcement officer. It helps in determining threat by enhancing visibility and facilitates rapid action.
Tactical Flashlights are commonly used in dark or low light spaces for situations such as investigation or shooting. 


However, in order to make the best use of a tactical flashlight, it’s important that one knows easy tips for making the best use of tactical flashlights. These tips include:  
       
  • For navigation, move the light from your footstep to the destination like a paint brush.
  • In dark rooms, look out for main light sources like switches or closed opaque windows.
  •  In unsafe situations, turn the light on, scan the area, turn off the light and move towards the selected place.
  • When you encounter someone suspicious, hit the flooding light straight in eyes. This will blind the suspect for a while, giving you enough time to make a defensive move.
  • Don’t be a Rambo, if you don’t have protective arms or combative training.      
  • With a handgun, point the flashlight towards the aiming direction.
  • Avoid using two handed techniques for gun and flashlight.
  •  Always hold the flashlight in your non dominating hand.
  • Prefer following roger technique or eye index technique for a better shooting grip.
  •  Keep the gun hand out and remember to keep the flashlight near to the jawline.
  • Be attentive towards the surroundings and be adaptive.
