Tactical
pants are somewhat similar to the cargo pants with some technical
modifications, especially designed as ordinary armor for professionals from
EMTs, FBI and SWAT Team agents, law enforcement officers,
and military and fire professionals.
History
Tactical Pants were first used as a mountain climbing trouser and were developed by the
Royal Robbins. The law enforcement community first discovered the tactical
pants when some native Colorado FBI agents came across the original
Royal Robbins version. They immediately agreed upon using these ultra-durable
pants for play and work. This is how the trousers made it all the way to
the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Seeing the top officials wearing
the pants all around the globe, everyone in law enforcement demanded their own
pair of pants.
Style
Over the
years, Tactical Pants have evolved greatly to offer different features. They
are available in various styles, fabrics and colors. They are easily
distinguishable from the cargo pants because of their solid color. They are
made with lightweight materials (65% polyester and 35% poly cotton ripstop),
the belt loops are very thick to support a large belt to carry the weight of a
sidearm, cuffs or other equipment. The double reinforced seat and knees provide
enhanced scratch protection, with interior knee slots ready to accept 6mm
neoprene kneepads. External knife pockets are common in all the different
variations of Tactical pants.
Due to all
these specifications, Tactical pants are expensive, but they are very durable
and fulfills their purpose very well.
