Since the primary duty of the police
and the military is to protect common people, they need to be well equipped
with proper gear to effectively handle chaotic situations. This includes
wearing the right kind of clothes and having all the right kind of gear like
flashlights, baton holders, pepper sprays, cutters, knives, etc.
Protecting other people doesn’t have
to come at the cost of one’s own safety and this the reason why police and
other law enforcement agencies in Canada are particular about providing all
serving officers with proper law enforcement equipment.
Here’s a list of some of the most common
police gear all Officers are essentially required to have. All the equipment
has been designed by keeping in mind, their safety and usefulness to Law
Enforcement, Military or any of the Protection Services including Security.
Tactical
Gear
Tactical gear is the most important of
all equipment, which is possessed by the law enforcement personnel. It includes
everything that is essential for the safety of the personnel out in the field in
life and death situations. For example, we have the tactical shirts, jackets,
trousers, boots, sweaters and body armor. These clothes are durable and the
body armor bullet resistant. We have clothing that keeps you warm even in the
extreme cold temperatures during the winters.
Tactical gear also includes several
accessories like night vision goggles, holsters, scabbards, ammo bags, duty
belts, duty boots, tactical flashlights, etc. For Police Officers, Corrections
Person Municipal and Provincial Law Enforcement working high risk areas your
quality of your tactical equipment should not be a concern.
In order to keep good track of the
enemy, military and police officials need to make good use of technology that
is at their disposal even under the most adverse situations. This is where the
surveillance equipment comes into picture. Such equipment may include
surveillance cameras, alarm clocks, radios and various other small and handy
appliances.
These appliances work on battery
power, and can last for quiet some hours, before dying out. So whether it is
spying or searching of criminals on a hide out, these small, but handy devices
can at times be detrimental in catching them.
Lastly, and equally important is the
field gear. Field gear as it is known may not necessarily be restricted to
field use. It can be used when roughing the outdoors, and also used for
emergencies and disasters.
Such equipment includes, grade tents,
fire starters, ponchos, insect repellant and first aid kits. They may also
include equipment like multipurpose knives, swords, snare wire, moleskin,
pocket saws, and other similar small, but handy devices that easily fit your
trouser pockets.
