If you carry a gun along with you for your safety, you might
not as aware of how to as would Police and military personnel. If you are new
to the concealed carriers then you certainly want to do some research on the kind
of holster to carry your gun in. The following blog explains few ways to carry
your gun in a safe and comfortable way.
There are in general two ways to carry your gun- Inside the
Waistband (IWB) and Outside the Waistband (OWB). Although there are other ways
as well but these two are the primary ways adopted for concealing a handgun.
Inside the Waistband
IWB holsters are designed in a way so that your handgun can
be concealed a handgun in your waistband, between your pants and your
underwear. Not considering the real place of the gun (i.e. small of the back, 3
o’clock, 1 o’clock, etc), all the firearm holsters have more or less same features
that can hold the gun back in its place
Pro:
·
Excellent concealability, suitable for long
barreled guns.
·
Easy to conceal a larger handgun even
while wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
·
Flexible to be positioned anywhere
around the waist.
Con:
·
It may demand some alteration as per
the gun model and can even make your pants tight due to jamming of gun and
holster.
·
It’s difficult to get a firm grip over
the weapon.
Outside the Waistband
OWB holsters are slimmer and have less design features in
comparison to their exposed counterparts. They make use of a belt to hang the
holster with very little placement difference.
Pro:
·
More comfortable than IWB holsters.
·
Highly secure than an IWB because of
presence of belt.
·
Positive grip can easily be achieved because
no space between the gun and body.
Con:
·
Less concealable than an IWB.
·
Prints more than IWB.
